1-Day Result of E-Book on Zedomax.com increased 100 RSS subscribers!

Well, as you know, I did a post on how I made an E-book in 5 hours using the content I had sitting somewhere in my blog.

Within just 1 day, Zedomax.com hit the highest RSS subscription of 1286, 74 more than ever, which was 1212 subscribers on October 7th.

Here’s the screenshot to prove the point:

I will have a full DIY How-To post on how to do this with Feedburner (hopefully tomorrow as I got about 3 major projects for clients, my computer is asking for a vacation right now).

Well, in short, the short term results look real good, I even added a sidebar “ad” to make sure new visitors to Zedomax.com will see the free DIY E-book too.

That’s all for today but my advice is to look for any old content in your blog, harddisk, wherever, you may not need to write an E-book from scratch, just put it together.

On the side note, Josh Whitford from Unconventional Marketing has joined our Zedomax Blog Network.  I should have a full review on his blog and what Josh does well on the Zedomax.Net blog.

We are also currently looking for PR4+ blogs with a good amount of good content to add to our blog network so if you are interested, e-mail me at zedomax [at] gmail.com.

And another side note, this blog seems to taking a life of its own (very steadily), thanks to you readers who have been commenting and visiting.

E-Book DIY - How to Write an E-book in 5 Hours!

Well, yesterday I wrote a 300+ page E-book for my tech blog, Zedomax.com in just 5 hours!

How did I do it?

Well, I had about 29+ original content DIY blog posts (hiding somewhere in my blog).  I simply opened up my Word, copy and pasted those blog articles, then converted to PDF via Adobe Acrobat with interactive bookmarks and hyperlinks so people can also click an image to see the larger version online.

That’s right!  You don’t need to write a new E-book from scratch, you may already have tons of content right there on your blog.  You simply need to organize it, add Table of Contents, Intro, etc…etc…

Why did I make an E-book?

A lot of bloggers have been reaping tons of more new readers and benefits, simply by offering a free E-book in return for subscribing to the blog via E-mail.

John Chow also has a great article, I can’t find the original article but here’s something close to it.

I’ve seen bloggers go from zero to like 8,000 RSS subscribers in couple months using this method.

If you have a lot of original content you can stich up into an E-book, it can be very valuable for the readers since they don’t have to be online via internet to read your book.

On top of it, the E-book can spread virally like a wildfire if people do like it.

One more thing, with addition of new E-book reader such as the Amazon Kindle, E-books can also now be downloaded in many forms to even PDAs, cellphones, etc…etc…

Well, since is my very first E-book, I don’t know how the results are going to be but I am already now working on an E-book for this blog, so watch out for that.

I will also have a HOW-TO article on how to get your Feedburner to show the E-book download link next.  You will need that gimick in order for the E-book marketing to work effectively while gaining more RSS readers.

Adsense and Chitika Optimization Heat Map!

A lot of people have been asking me that it’s hard to believe that you can make money with Adsense and I have to tell you that I change around my Adsense ads at least 5-10 times a week to just it right.

So, after all my hundreds of experiments using Adsense and Chitika to maximize my income, the above Adsense Chitika Optimization Heat Map is something I live by and I have to say, this is my secret. (But don’t worry, I have very little readers and subscribers, the secret IS SAFE!)

Anyways, let me go over what the heck above Heat Map is. (Yes, it’s probably quite different from the Google Heat Map but I assure you, it works)

The main money makers with Adsense for me is always the Adsense ad in the upper-left hand corner.

Depending on your website design and width of the site, you can use anything from 200×200, 250×250, 300×250, or 336×280.

What I try to do is fit TWO of these ads on top before ANY CONTENT.  (Find the right size that will fit TWO of these ads)

Why?

People who tend to come through Google search tend to “like” reading the Adsense ads and will click more often than if your Adsense is at the bottom.

If you look at any of my sites, you will see this pattern and I have been experimenting too.

Now those two ads are probably going to be your best performers.  I have tried countless different configurations such as the 468×15 before the content and sadly, I always revert back to this.

The 468×15 or 728×15 Link Unit ad after your content is a pretty good performer too, don’t forget to wedge that in there.

For putting 120×90 pixel Link units, looky here.

Now since Adsense allows you to put 3 regular Adsense ads on your site, put another one AFTER your content as shown.  For the empty space on the right, I recommend filling it with a Chitika MPU or Minimalls ad. (find the one that fits)

As for Chitika Premium ads, try to put one right after the 2 Adsense ads on top and another one right after the content.  These only show when people click through a search term so you want to make sure people see it TWICE, once on top and once after content to maximize the chances of them seeing the ad.

I know I know, you tell me that your website will be filled with ads.  But if you are serious about taking Adsense to maximum revenue, this is really what you have to do.

As for me, I don’t have a choice whether there’s too many ads or not, if I am not getting paid, I might as well get a 9 to 5 job.

If you don’t believe me, just watch TV, how many ads do you see every hours?  Probably 3 or 4.  Yes, even if you pay your comcast bills, you still have to watch “ads” to get free TV.  (Yes, THAT is ridiculous)

In comparison, you putting those Adsense ads before the content is trivial.

Oh one more thing, don’t put Adsense ads on your sidebar, they never perform.  You can test it out but I am pretty sure most sites will perform better without it.

Instead sell the inventory ad private ads that people can buy.

Well, this isn’t final but this is the best heat map that money can buy right now. (and it’s free!)

One thing you need to also do is make sure you are getting at least around 1000 uniques per day, without at least 1000 unique visitors, it’s almost impossible to make any money on Adsense or any other type of advertising.

Once you reach 1000 uniques (or before that too), you should really apply the above heat map for maximum revenue.

Let me know if this helped you double or triple your earning.

Happy Adsensing!

Best Type of Traffic for Ad Clicks!

A lot of people don’t know that fact about web traffic and the fact remains that you need a special “type” of web traffic to get the people to be interested in your advertisements whether that be Google Adsense or whatever.

Here’s are some facts about what kind of people are more likely to read and click on ads:

1. Blog subscribers are overrated, they are the worst type of traffic that’d click on your ads. Besides, most subscribers are subscribers because they see your blog through an RSS reader, thus they’d even rarely see the ad at all unless you had feed ads.

Blog subscribers are the worst for making money because they know your site layout already, they are “ad blind”, as they say.

2. Traffic coming from Digg, Stumbleupon, Reddit, and social networking are worthless. Most of the time, they will steal your bandwidth and you pretty much don’t make any money unless you can “consistently” make the front page, in which case you will gain a lot of SEO, which is good for making money online.

Most people coming from the social networking traffic are too smart to even read your ads, don’t waste your time building up traffic this way. You might end up with 1000 more uniques per day but if that doesn’t convert, you are the one who end up wasting time. (Whereas if you only had 100 uniques from search engines, you’d probably make more money in comparison)

3. Traffic from Google search terms are the best for making money. People who click through a search engine more than often click out through Google Adsense ads. This is where the money is. If you can somehow increase the number of people coming to your site through Google, Yahoo, or any other search engines, you have the best type of web traffic, the people who read and click on ads.

So what’s the point of this story?

You need to spend 90% of your time blogging, consistently about your niche topic. Do not waste your time with too many social networks as they don’t give you “money” results. The social networks might earn you more readers and traffic but they simply don’t convert to money.

Also, don’t try so hard to get a lot of subscribers. Your subscribers should be subscribing to your blog because they are REALLY interested in keeping up with your blog news.

If you use contests and other methods simply to increase the number of subscribers, it doesn’t really help you when you are counting money at the end of the day.

Subscribers = The worst traffic for CPC advertising

Social Network traffic = Also worst traffic for CPC advertising

Random People who find your site through a search engine = This is your goldmine, if you can get the number of visitors coming to your site up to about 90% of total traffic, that is ideal for making money online.

Other people including blog experts might tell you otherwise but in my experience, this is what has worked and what is working for me. If you have further suggestions, I am ears are always open and you are welcome to comment.

What is Niche Blogging?

So, you saw John Chow’s blog on how he is making 23K/month and you decided to start a blog…

Okay, what niche topic did you choose?

If you chose “Making Money Online”, you are in serious trouble.

You see, niche blogging is about finding a topic that no one else is blogging about.

You need to pick a topic that has the following characteristics:

1. No one else is blogging about it

2. The topic is “expensive”, meaning you are blogging about a product/service that’s “expensive”.

Why?

Well, the expensive products always have companies that can back it up with expensive Adwords campaign, meaning you will get more money everytime someone clicks on that ad.

What did I do lately?

I made RingOBlog and LaptopPimp.

There, I just gave you the secret to making a lot of money with blogs, but if you notice, I don’t have many subscribers.

I am not trying to give out secrets, only to the selected few like you.

Lol… enjoy, analyze, and you can make living online like me too.

And don’t tell anyone about this blog, because I give out my secrets.

RSS Subscribers, overrated?

Well, in a recent interview with John Chow, I did get some great secrets from John on how to monetize my blogs.

I went from losing money every month on server fees to making almost $6K per month in just a month.

Now, what did I learn from John Chow?

He did tell me that RSS subscribers are the key to making money with blogs.

But I beg to differ.

It really depends on “how” you are making money online. Let’s say you do that mostly through affiliate programs and CPA deals, you will probably be better off with lots of RSS subscribers.

Now in my case, I have low RSS subscribers on most of my blogs yet I do get some good traffic, total of about 30K uniques per day as a network.

I also did research on some blogs with very high RSS subscribers, around 10K-20K, and found out that high number of RSS subscribers doesn’t always equal high web traffic.

For example, my Zedomax.com gets almost 7,000 uniques per day yet I only have 900 RSS subscribers.  99% of my readers are super bouncers and I don’t rely on my readers to make money for me, I rely on the new people that come to the site to make money.

For me, I’ve built my blogs on a network model planned to drive up web traffic, not subscribers.

Because of that model, I get about 90% of my traffic from search engines like Google. Now, I don’t have many subscribers but I do get lots of new people to all the blogs as 90% of the web traffic is new people through Google search terms.

John Chow sells lots of private advertising and lots of affiliate programs with tiers.

Now, the secret John Chow told me personally was not the fact that I need to raise number of RSS subscribers, but he said to me, “Drive Traffic and Maximize Income!

Well, I took that to my heart and started moving around Google Adsense ads.  Within 4 weeks, I went from $1000 revenue to almost now $6000.  (the check should be coming soon)

With more fine tuning and optimizing my ads, I am pretty sure I can get near $10K/month range by the end of this year.  Not too bad for changing and moving around your ads.

RSS is not overrated, but it is overrated for people like me who build sites for traffic, not subscribers.

The great part about building natural search traffic is that those people who use Google to find your site are also the most likely people to click out of your site using your Adsense ads.

What I’ve learned in the last few weeks is that there’s never one way to skin a money making cat.  The most important thing you have to do is to spend a lot of time to adjust and try different things until you can maximize the income from your blog.

That’s what John Chow did and I just proved it to myself AND told you about it.

Now go take my medicine and try it yourself and see if you can double, triple, or quadruple your income!
