Like I promised on my last blog post, today I will reveal the secrets behind why Twitter will replace search in the year 2015.  “Search” here I mean like Google, Yahoo, and all the search engines that currently use an indexing system and other ranking systems such as the PageRank.

You see, a lot of friends are surprised to hear me say, “Twitter is the next Google.”

It’s quite rather simple though and let me talk you through it so you understand what is at stake here.

Search is probably the biggest online business today, it’s the one single thing that get people searching, clicking, and buying stuff.

What you have not realized about twitter is this single fact of life I have realized about a week ago while being addicted to Twitter:

Twitter is the best “real-time” search engine available today, period.

The domain Search.Twitter.com brings users more relevant “real-time” search results than anything else in the world, including Google.  Google also has pretty fast updates on news from the big media and big sites but it’s not real-time, there’s at least 1 minute delay for even the most world-breaking news.

On the other hand, Twitter search can give the user real-time responses, which are pretty much search results in 140 characters or less.

The 140 characters or less philosophy of Twitter works PERFECTLY because search engines like Google and Yahoo have been doing that for DECADES as evidenced here:

Every Tweet is actually a search result. (or could be)

Every tweet on Twitter can actually become a rather meaningful search result, just like Google, except it’s real-time and human-based.

Even Google has been working on human-input and have added user wiki features where users can rate the search results themselves.

Twitter goes far beyond that model by having pretty much 100% of human inputs. (or tweets)

Challenges Ahead for Twitter

Twitter search is still in its infancy and noone might start using it often until Twitter optimizes and makes their search engine more usable for the general public.

For example, I could type “golf” and get a LOT of results on golf related tweets but that might not be too helpful if the search results are displayed by time.

Twitter search needs a new option where people can also search for the most popular tweeter article in the last 24 hours, sorta like Digg.

This functionality will bring Twitter search to a usable search engine by the masses while still allowing real-time search engine results.

How did I come to this conclusion?

The fact of the matter is, internet is “owned” by search engines, simply because people love to “search” and end up in vicious-cycle of searching on Google all day.   Even myself, as a blogger, have been researching new ways to optimize blogs through search-oriented blog themes. (and also writing a book called “Search” later this year.)

Just give it another 5-10 years and I think  Twitter will start racking up a big portion of the search market share, or at least majority of “real-time” search market.

A search engine is nothing but a website that helps people find what they are looking for, if Twitter can do this faster than Google, I don’t see why people won’t start using Twitter more, especially for more time-critical information such as world events and sports.

I could be wrong but if I am right, we are looking at the birth of new Google and this is probably an understatement.

My secret to online blogging success (that success defined by 1 million pageviews/month) can be boiled down to 1 sentence:

If you write, people will come.

That’s right.  The secret to blogging itself is blogging or simply, writing.  Writing original content is probably the easiest way to bring more web search traffic to your site.

Why?

Because search engines will eventually crawl your site, index your content, and send you any relevant traffic based on your writing.

A lot of people ask me, “How do you bring in 1 million visitors to your sites per month?”

My simple and honest answer, “I blog.”

Now I don’t write all the blog posts myself simply because my online business is expanding and I cannot write everything myself.  But I do a lot of writing, a whole lot more than I ever did in college.

Of course, there’s plugins for Wordpress and other social bookmarking systems that can “enhance” your web traffic numbers but that’s always AFTER you write.

Let me get into more detail on how to get more web search traffic to your blog:

If your write well, people will come.

Of course, you can just write about something with horrible grammar and uninteresting sentences.  Another secret to blogging is that you must write well.  If your content is basically garbage and not interesting, no one will be searching for your content and therefore all your blogging/writing efforts go to the waste.

Even this blog post, I believe will be very helpful for those bloggers who are new to the blogsphere and you might have even found this blog post through a Google search, which I am not surprised at.

If you write a lot, people will come.

If you write and you write well, that’s not the end of the stick yet.  You also need to write a LOT, on a daily basis, and on an hourly-basis if you really want to succeed.

When I started blogging, I wrote a minimum of 24 blog posts per day, which were all scheduled to post 1 per hour.  Now, I did this for about 1 year and did bring Zedomax.com to about 5,000 unique visitors per day.

That’s about 24*365= 8,760 blog posts per year.

When you do that much blogging, you are bound to get a lot of traffic from search engines, other bloggers, social bookmarks, and more.

So that said, what are you doing?

If you have been blogging once per week, that’s going to take you 8760/54 = 162 years of blogging to catch someone like me, who will blog at the rate of one blog post/hour.  (On the side note, most A-list bloggers will be doing at least 1 blog post per hour.)

Of course, there are exceptions to this rule but in general, you need to write, write, and write WELL over a long term period in order to make steady income online.

Now, I didn’t say you couldn’t hire bloggers or even have guest bloggers on your blog, just make sure your blog is like an ocean of information where people can swim, sail a boat, or even surf.

Even as I write this blog post, I know people will come.

Will you be another blogger who expects to make money blogging with 1 blog post per day (and doesn’t) or will you become that next A-list blogger who is loooaded with information?

The secret to blogging has been simple and you just gotta do it:

Write and people will come, link to you, and you succeed.

Today, I will talk about ad optimization and how it’s completely related with SEO.

SEO, Search Engine Optimization, is the process of optimizing your blog/website so that you will show up first or near the first page of search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN.

Now, how is this directly related with ad optimization?

Well, your ad is basically like the ones found on Google search, located on top and the right side.

If you can understand how SEO works (in the Web 2.0 world, not Web 1.0 pleez), you will be able to position your Google Adsense or Chitika ads better and make more money in the process.

I believe there are 2 types of internet users:

1. Readers – These people are seeking information, that’s really all they want.

2. Searchers – These people are seeking information too but they are not readers, they will keep “searching” until they find what they “want”.  A lot of these people are looking to “buy” something and a lot of advertisers are “selling” stuff.(of course)

From the point of view of an blog/internet marketer, you need more searchers than readers because they tend to “want” something and will do whatever it takes to find what they “want”.  (even if that means clicking on an ad and they know it’s an ad)

Even myself, I tend to click on ads when I find myself “searching” for hours and can’t find anything.

That’s the mindset behind searchers.

Readers, on the other hand, really don’t buy stuff much and they simply need to fill the void of information in their head such as “how to make sushi“, as 1 example.

Readers are also classified in blogging as “RSS Subscribers”, they are your core audience and of course, readers can be your early-adaptor people who will spread the word about your blog.

Now what is the point of this?

Well, to tell you the truth, if you want to start making money with Adsense, Chitika, or whatever, you will need to focus and concentrate on getting more searchers.

I’ve even developed a new blogging theme that markets your blog as a search engine.

Now, changing your blogging theme probably isn’t the only way but that’s the best way I found so far.

Even if you don’t change your blog theme, you can apply this simply by making your search bar bigger on your website and placing ads before the search results.

Chitika even hooked me up with custom ads that can be shown in the middle of my search results, how cool is that? (I will dive into that later down the road…)

I am going off topic here but I do see a big future for a company that has great customer support.

Anyways, I am going to write a book soon, I’ve been telling people about it and I can’t go to sleep every night because what I found could possibly boost your Adsense/Chitika income by 2X at least.  (Well, it’s all pretty much on this blog, spread out somewhere, but I need to put it in professional writing and published.)
