How to Write a Blog Post and Capture Your Audience!

Writing great blog post that captures your audience probably has everything to do with your success to make money online.

Why?

Great content will always attract humans, search engines, and anyone who is interested in that information.

How do I write a blog post and capture my audience?

Well, there are numerous ways to do it but I can share you my strategy to this.

For me, I focus on satirical, humorous writing that will make the reader laugh.

Why?

The world is full of great information.  Especially the internet, you can go to 10 different blogs for the same information.

To have a competitive edge, you need to differ from your fellow bloggers.

Let me ask you a question.  Would you rather read a boring, monotonous blog post or a funny, interesting blog post?

Of course, most people would favor the latter.

Now, you need to write each blog post with a topic in your mind that is so worth reading and worth the reader’s time.

Let’s take an example.

I write a tech blog over at Zedomax.com.  Now, there’s so many thousand tech blogs out there, and most of the sites cover what everyone else covers.

To differentiate, I only pick the most interesting gadgets, DIYs, and tech news with emphasis on anything that I can make a joke out of.

The big blogs like Engadget and Gizmodo both cover every inch of tech news including which Sony execs had for breakfast.

Basically, I am the human, humorous, interesting comedian-filter for those big blogs while inputting some of my own niche topics.

Again, the world doesn’t need more MBA graduates to write long and boring blog posts that might be very accurate but still very boring.

What the world needs is simply writers who can describe an event in couple sentences with ability to make someone laugh.

Well, this blog post might have been very long and boring, perhaps I am a hypocrite.  Fuc*.

The Best Niche Market for Adsense Ads!

The best niche market I have found for Adsense ads really are the local niche markets.

What do I mean by “local” niche markets?

These are regionalized, localized markets that have an audience of one city, one county, or in other words, a small audience.

Why would you benefit from such a small market?

Well, it’s really common sense.  Because the audience is so small, your click rate skyrockets.

What is a “local” niche market?

Well, the “best” Adsense performer blog that I have is SFOneOfAKind.com.  It’s a blog about luxury real estate in San Francisco.

I cannot tell you more details than it’s the best performer as far as CPC (Cost per Click) is concerned.

It’s actually one of my “dead” blogs that I’ve began to monetize and blog as of lately.

There are tons of other “local” niche markets you can find such as “New York City Automobile Blog” or “Los Angeles Best Restaurant Blog”.

These are niche blogs that cater to only a very small portion of the internet audience.

Because the audience is so small, there’s more competition among the advertisers so in return, you the publisher can expect higher CPC.

Of course, this isn’t the case for everything, it’s always best to rely on trial and error.

Do you have a “local” niche market?

These local, niche market maybe the undiscovered gems among niche blogs and you my friend, just been told of another Adsense secret.

Now, go take your medicine and make a couple local, niche blogs to try it out yourself.

Blog is an Organic Thingee

A blog is an organic thingee.

What does that mean?

Well, a blog is not a static “website”.

You don’t set up a blog and call it quits.  A blog is a continuous stream of information.

A real blog is backed up by a blogging software that has been designed for the blogger to write a new blog post daily, hourly, or even every minute.

Why is this good?

Blogs are called “Web 2.0″ because of their organic nature.  Since blogs are constantly updated, it forces search engines to “crawl” the site, thus giving the blog a stable increase in web traffic.

Let’s say you stop blogging for 3 months due to personal emergencies or vacations.  The blog still maintains the average web traffic you have been receiving and simply won’t grow until you get back to write more.  Of course, you web traffic could decrease a little but because of the “organic” nature, a blog will maintain its search term traffic even if you stop blogging.

A blog is organic because it keeps growing no matter what you do, unless you make the search engine gods mad.

Of course, there are other software that is similar to blogging that you could call organic but no other type of writing platform software gives you all a blog has to offer including blog search engines, pinging, trackbacks, etc…etc…

Blogs will take over the world of information eventually.  (if they haven’t already)

Go to the bookstore and open up “any” magazine and I bet you there’s at least 1 mention of a blog.

Watch MTV all day and there’s a mention of a blog.  (probably more)

Blogs are great business as they are not completely affected by the U.S. economy.  Your readers consist from international readers.

Why you should be blogging?

It’s been getting harder and harder to get a real job in the U.S.  Even when I graduated from college years ago, there were no jobs and there are no jobs now.

Of course, if you finish at top of your class, you would be guaranteed a job but what about the other 99% of college students?

That’s right, the real world is not fair.  No matter how good of grades you get, you are not guaranteed to even get a job in this real world.

So, what are you waiting for?  Go start a blog.  At least you have a backdoor out of the real world.

Start living it up in your home office, save time and carbon footprint by not having to commute 2 hours per day.

There are 18 year olds who are making more money than Stanford MBA graduates these days.  The possiblities are still endless on the internet.

Find a niche, blog, blog, blog, optimize ads, and work from home.

It’s the new world of media, unfiltered, and pure than TV, radio, newspaper, and any other traditional media.

Top 10 Reasons Why Blogs are More Powerful than Traditional Media!

Apart from making money on the internet, blogs in general are probably the most powerful communication medium today.

Why?

1. Blogs are faster than radio, television, and newspapers.  A blog post can be written in about 30 seconds and searched by Google in matter of minutes.

2. Blogs are organic communication medium because they are made to “grow”.  Everything about a blogging software platform has been designed for viral-spread of information.

3. Blogs are mentioned everywhere these days even in radio, television, and newspapers.

4. Blogs can be made and run by any person with slight knowledge of internet unlike any other traditional media.

5. Blogs stand for freedom of speech by individuals, not by greedy media companies.

6. Some blogs are worth more than some radio/TV stations.

7. Blogs can keep track of its past articles unlike radio, TV, and newspapers. (archives)

8. Blogs are closely connected with search engines and SEO.

9. Blogs rule the internet world in terms of speed in which information is spread.

10. Blogsphere makes up a large portion of information we read today.

As you can see, there are many reasons why blogs are taking over traditional media.

Now the biggest challege is, “How do we keep traditional media from taking control over blogs?”

I don’t think traditional media will ever get to take over the blogsphere but if they try, we need to fight back and tell them to shove it up their as*.

Don’t Sell Links If You Want to Make Money with AdSense!

Well, this one is pretty simple but a lot of people do sell links on their blogs.

Why?

Well, to simply put it, if you want to make money with Adsense, you need Google search term traffic.

If you sell links, Google will eventually dump your blog and your Adsense traffic will drop dramatically to a point where it will affect your Adsense revenue.

Why bother selling links anyways when it’s unethical?

There are thousands of sites that help you sell links but I highly advise against it if you are serious about making money in the long run.

Of course, if you want to make some quick bucks and get out, that’s fine too.  But remember all your hard work and all that search traffic might just be gone one day if you start selling links.

Why is it unethical?

Well, think about it this way.  If you had all the money in the world, you could buy up all the links and show up first on Google.  Now, that wouldn’t be fair for others who write original content, would it?

It’s really common sense.  If you want to play the Adsense game, you need to stop and don’t sell links at all.  If you want to play another game such as affiliate sales, then it might not matter as much.  But the answer is simple.

I probably get at least 10-20 requests to buy links.   They all end up marked as spam.  I don’t want to be part of it, leave me out of it. :)

Understanding Your Audience - How to Write a Blog Post!

Now, if you have been blogging for awhile now, you probably understand that majority of your readers are people who use simple English.

What do I mean?

Well, on all my blogs, more than 30-50% of my traffic comes from international countries other than English speaking countries.

Why is this?

Well, people from those international countries who can speak/read English, are very interested in English written blogs.  But do not assume that those audience can understand your perfect, complex English.

How do I write a blog post?

You need to simply 5 sentences to 1 sentence.  You need to use words that even a 4th grader can understand.

In other words, write short and simple, while taking the trouble not to use big words such as “eponymous”, “advocate”, or any words that might usually be used on an SAT exam but not in real life.

Sure, you are a professor and you need to use big words but do understand if people in the world can’t understand you, you won’t be very popular.

If you are trying to make money online, keep it simpler.  If you are simply blogging for fun, ignore anything I say in this blog.

A lot of the bigger blogs out there “are” targetting English users only but you can differ and get more readership through using simple words and sentences.

Even for me, English is second language, and I can understand that it’s frustrating to look up the dictionary when I don’t understand a word.  (Of course, I SHOULD look up the dictionary but we are not blogging to educate people, we are blogging to provide good information, FAST!)

Do you know why there are so many 13 year olds who blog nowdays and are more successful than most 20 year olds?

Answer is simple.  People in general (as in the Internet population), cannot understand college-level English as they come from all over the world.

Heck, next time you read some of the comments in your blog and you will see that a lot of your readers cannot even write correct English.

Do not worry as this is great if you can get your message across.  Just stay away from becoming an English teacher and do use simpler words.

If you don’t believe me, take a look at icanhascheezburger.com, even their domain name is spelled wrong.  (Btw, the blog grew from nothing to like top 100 within less than a year!)

Blogging is about Fresh Content, You gotta be in the Right Mindset!

If you look at carefully at blogs that are successful, you can see the amount of “fresh” content that’s coming out.

That’s what you need to focus on most, fresh content.   Fresh content is the core of blogs, whether you run a sports blog or tech blog, people want to read about something new, not something everyone knows about or from yesterday.  (That’s right, in the blogging world, even news from yesterday is old for some blogs…)

Now, how to go about fresh content?

First, you need to be in the right mindset.  Get yourself excited and fresh to blog.

For example, for me, I like to blog in the early mornings around 6am to 8am, that’s when my mind if fresh and I can do like 50 blog posts within just 3 hours.

I do tend to get lazy at times and drift down to like 20 blog posts but on my good days, I do try to wake up early and get things done early.  (This is my best hours but it may be different for you so try different times and see what works for ya.)

What do I do the rest of the day?

I go play golf, I don’t need to spend ALL day blogging.  Trust me, you need to find a way to get your mind off blogging most of the time than the other way around.

As a blogger who has blogged almost 2 years non-stop daily, I know that every human being needs to learn how to distract themselves from work.

How long do I blog total per day?

Most days, I blog 4-6 hours depending on how early I wake up and how fresh I am.  But I admit that after doing 20 or so blog posts, my mind is about to burst into flames if I don’t stop blogging.

Find your distraction!

That’s right, you need to learn to distract yourself with fun activities such as going to get a cup of coffee at the coffee shop, work out at the gym, go grocery shopping, or anything that can help your mind get away COMPLETELY from blogging.

Why?

Well, first and foremost, you need to be “super-fresh” to write great content.

Second, you don’t want to burn out and write mediocre blog posts.  Your energy is felt by your readers.  (Even this post, you can probably feel my energy.   Do you feel my power??? )

Third, you need to stay away from the computer at least couple hours a day.   Computers were never made for human nature, only for robots.  If you want to end up an Internet zombie, be my guest but if you want a “life” (as they say, “get a life”), go do something with your life away from that keyboard and mouse.  Besides, it’s only going to help you develop handaches.

Become a Warrior to Make Money Blogging!

Okay, today’s post is about becoming like a warrior to make money online through blogging.

What do I exactly mean?

Well, if you have seen the movie 300, you will notice that there are only 300 warriors fighting off gazillions of Persian warriors, monsters, etc..etc...

Life and making money online is the same thing.

The more you write, the better you write, and if you can blog consistently everyday, you are bound to fight off all your enemies eventually and start making money.

What do you need to do?

Blog, blog, and blog it all like crazy every freakin’ day.  I don’t care if you write about technology, health, etc…, you need to blog all the time!

Picture this okay, you are a warrior and you have just been drop-shipped via a war helicopter to the 100,000 enemies.  In order for you to survive, you need to kill every 100,000 enemies one by one until they are all dead.  (Better yet, make some good allies and you can fight together!)

Well, don’t get me wrong, there are no enemies in the blogging world, it’s just you versus yourself.  But you need to understand that if you just started blogging, there are 100,000 other bloggers who are trying to do the same thing.  The only way you will come on top is by blogging better and faster than everyone else.

Hey, if you don’t believe me just take a look at 90% of the blogs out there today, it’s either bunch of garbage or the blog rarely gets updated.

You need to focus on quality and quantity.  Wake up fresh in the morning and write, write, write, and blog, blog, blog until your hands are bleeding.  Okay, that was just a metaphor but still, hard work pays off and you should only do it if it’s fun for you or worthwhile more than working in a cubicle.

Hey, I am no class A writer, but I know how to get the job done whether that’s pretty or ugly.

When it comes down to it, you need to blog.  A blog is simply a “live” stream of information that’s faster than any other media today.  The only way you will be able to gain lots of traction is through “live” streaming lots of new and great information than other similar blogs.

Well, now the secret is out, maybe I should shut this blog down soon.

Here’s a video of what blogging means to “serious” bloggers:

What is Niche Blogging?

So, you saw John Chow’s blog on how he is making 23K/month and you decided to start a blog…

Okay, what niche topic did you choose?

If you chose “Making Money Online”, you are in serious trouble.

You see, niche blogging is about finding a topic that no one else is blogging about.

You need to pick a topic that has the following characteristics:

1. No one else is blogging about it

2. The topic is “expensive”, meaning you are blogging about a product/service that’s “expensive”.

Why?

Well, the expensive products always have companies that can back it up with expensive Adwords campaign, meaning you will get more money everytime someone clicks on that ad.

What did I do lately?

I made RingOBlog and LaptopPimp.

There, I just gave you the secret to making a lot of money with blogs, but if you notice, I don’t have many subscribers.

I am not trying to give out secrets, only to the selected few like you.

Lol… enjoy, analyze, and you can make living online like me too.

And don’t tell anyone about this blog, because I give out my secrets.

To Make Money Online you need to be Passionate about Blogging!

As a blogger with 2 years of experience in many niche blog topics such as technology, home, and others, the one thing I can tell you is that you need to be passionate about blogging.

What is passion?

Well, when I get up in the morning, I can’t wait to do 50 blog posts on my various different blogs. There’s so much information and I want to tell the world about that through my blogs.

Do you have passion?

You need passion to make money blogging. If you don’t have it, it will show up on your writing and your readers will feel it too.

If you don’t have passion, the desire that blogging is one of the most fun things you can do to make money, you should go get a job and stop wasting time.

However, if you are passionate about making money, do 24+ blog posts per day. That IS a guaranteed stable way to build web traffic.

Go look at the top 100 blogs in the world, there’s not a single blog that does less than 24 blog posts per day. Some blogs even do like 30+!

I am sorry, but the truth and the secret is out there, you just need to blog, blog, blog, and blog about it.

If you are not willing or too lazy, forget blogging, you might as well work for some corporation who’s going to slave you away for rest of your life.

Yes, life is tough, blogging is tough. Stop wasting time, you should be able to write 2-3 blog posts in the time you’ve read this blog post.

Get serious now, take action, that’s all I can tell you.
