Bit of an Update…
Well, I’ve been chuggin’ along for months now w/o updating this blog itself mostly because “I HAVE BEEN BUSY!”
I know, I know, I should be updating more often but sometimes, I do need to deeply focus on projects at hand. Lately, I’ve been working on this HUGE Twitter app site. I just have a feeling deep down, THIS IS GOING TO BE HUGE!
Other than that, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting with founder of Wordpress, Matt Mullenweg, over at San Francisco airport on the way to CES 2010. I think that was probably meant to be because I sat down at a random table and looked over, there he was! Anyways, CES 2010 was a lot of fun too, that kept me busy for about 2 weeks straight. It was my first time at CES so, I tried to take in as much as I can but I’ve never seen so many people interested in gadgets in one place. I will definitely be heading to Vegas every year from now on.
Well, anyways, it’s a funny story because when I started blogging back in Auguest 2006, I picked the best blogging software, Matt’s Wordpress.
One of the main reasons I picked Wordpress over other blogging softwares was because it was the only blogging platform with WYSIWYG support, which I like since I can “preview” my blog before posting. Plus, Wordpress was easy to use and had a ton of plugins to support it, which I liked.
It turns out that was the right choice, I still use Wordpress now not because everyone else uses it, I’ve been using it since August 2006 because it was the “best” based on my testing. Believe me, I tested all kinds of blogging platforms and Wordpress is the one I stuck with.
Now, everyone calls Wordpress the “best”, I just feel almighty and smart because I did that almost 4 years ago.
What’s up for next few years? My just-turned-30 year old brain tells me Twitter is going to be HUMONGOUS with an “H” over the next few years, I think it might actually surpass Google (in terms of web traffic) in the next 5 years or so. Mark my words, Google will always be Google and we will always google things but Twitter is going to become something else, it’s just getting started.
Back in 2006, I saw the same opportunities with blogging, I knew blogging would keep taking off until there’s a ton of bloggers making a living from it. (which is today)
I really don’t like to think ahead because I like to live day by day (and simply be happy with my life), but in year 2014, Twitter should really be that thang you shoulda/coulda made millions on.
Well, that’s all folks, I gotta go finish up my Twitter app, my heads been full of PHP/AJAX code for last 2 weeks. Honestly, I don’t know what hit me but when my site comes out, it will hit you hard. (I hope, crossing my hands)
C’ ya and follow me on Twitter @zedomax!
P.S. And thanks Matt for your personal card, that’s the only card I “personally” carry now in my new Gucci wallet my parents bought me for my 30th b-day.

I don’t know how big twitter is gonna be or if it has already passed it’s peak. What I do know is that I connect with people on Facebook. I keep it opened in a browser tab and check it from time to time throughout the day, when I find an interesting I read it and if it’s a link then I visit the link. Facebook is my base in ways that twitter has never been.
I use Twitter only occassionally and that is usually around a news event where I want breaking news, gossip and commentary from people outside my Facebook network. Rightly or wrongly I differentiate the two networks this way, Twitter is immediate and impersonal, Facebook is filtered and personal.
Don’t get me wrong though, I don’t like the closed nature of Facebook. I truly believe that a brand belongs on its own site and that information should emanate from that site/blog and populate Twitter, Facebook and any other site out there. Unfortunately, I haven’t found a good way to do just that.

Hi Jack, first of all, thanks for visitin’. I think both Facebook and Twitter are now “big” players and you should use both Facebook and Twitter to engage your customers. For blogging for example, you should really have a Facebook fan page while you should actively follow people back on Twitter. Simply following back people could result in many Twitter users talking(tweeting) about your stuff. Well, just saying, both Facebook and Twitter are huge and you should use both to your advantage.

You are right and along comes a big event to show just how important twitter is in the mix. I had an unused seesmic install on my blackberry. Unused until about 18 hours ago. I was able to keep up with news, rumors and gossip about the Chile earthquake and the tsunami. Living on a rock in the Pacific without a local media to speak of, it was nice to get up to the second information not possible from Facebook or even Google News.

Great, so long as you have fun with Facebook and Twitter, I think u will be successful in using it for personal/business advantage. If it ain’t fun why do it in the first place. Btw, I’ve been watching live videos of tsunamis occuring from Chile earthquakes, good thing no one got hurt in the tsunamis, at least not too many.
