A bit of an Update – Sites that I am working On
Life doesn’t have to be so full of SEO optimization and full of cookie content. (Great post Sonia btw.) You can treat your readers like dogs but sometimes you may need to cut the crap and connect with your readers.
This may mean that you should try writing blog posts at a more “personal” level so your visitors can understand you better and create a connection with you.
It could also mean that you can simply thank other bloggers in your blog post by their first name, even if you have never talked to them before but you admire their work. I get a surprising number of thanks e-mails from various people in different industries, simply because I “thanked” them. Of course, I do get a handful of those other people too for blog posts I may be controversial on.
No matter what you are trying to achieve, thanking your fellow bloggers and readers may be just the “secret” you need to grow your blog. Look at Twitter, there’s a full fledge of Twitter
For your next blog post, I’d like for you to try to do something personal such as thanking another blogger or even responding to one of your readers’ comments. Such simple acts of kindness may be just the thing you need to ignite your blog(s).
One of the blog pages I have is called a “Thank You” page. Visitors get redirected to that page if they subscribe to any of my blogs via e-mail newsletter. That “Thank You” page receives the most comments every week. Most people like being thanked or given complements. (so do I!!!)
People love other people who are nice. Yes, in blogging, nice guys can win.
With all that said, I want to thank everyone of you out there for visiting, reading, and subscribing to my humble blog.
Here’s some sites that I am working on, please feel free to ask me any questions via the comments form as I will be responding to all of them.
- Led-digital-watches.com – LED Digital Watches Blog is a blog I made about LED digital watches, particularly from our partner company, TokyoFlash. (Btw, if you are in similar business and want to hook up, don’t forget to let me know!)
- PalmPre-Hacks.com – Palm Pre Hacks Blog is a blog about hacking Palm pre. I made it last night at 4 in the morning. I have a love thing for open source, Linux, and fast broadband speeds. Palm Pre just sorta came at the right time as I have been looking for such a linux device for years and Palm Pre can be hacked just like a linux computer. (actually it IS a linux computer) Btw, this blog and all my blogs run on a linux server. I am sure there’s a way to install apache on Palm Pre and run even this blog. Even Palm Pre apps can be written in HTML, CSS, and Javascript. (AJAX too)
- I have another site that I am working on that I can’t tell you details except it’s going to contribute 100% of its profits to homeless charity in San Francisco and that I will be personally donating my own programming hours to build the site and initial launch budgets. If anyone is into helping homeless people in San Francisco, please let me know, I am not looking for money but maybe help in different forms and formats such as graphic design, blog posts, and whatever you can “donate” to the needy. I really believe that one of my life’s purpose is to help homeless people in the world. I dunno why but I just “feel” that way all my life. That’s something I haven’t really told many people yet so please… shhhhh!
Well, those two are the new blogs I’ve beta-launched as of now, I am also working on revamping Chrome-Hacks.Net, a blog about hacking the Google Chrome Browser.
Eventually my plan is to get the 2 new blogs and Chrome Hacks blog into a blog network of interesting tech blogs.
